GHAZIABAD: With 80% of city police stations now integrated under a Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS), Ghaziabad residents can now file FIRs online. The move will not only help police render services more effectively, but will also save residents from the hassle of going to police stations to file complaints.
The CCTNS was brought to effect on June 15.
Since then, close to 470 FIRs have been registered online. The maximum online FIRs have been registered at Indirapuram police station. "Till now, we have registered 261 online complaints/FIRs here," said Gorakhnath Yadav, SHO, Indirapuram PS.
Ajay Pal, the nodal officer for implementing CCTNS in the city, said barring the police stations in Khoda, Loni and Tronica City, all other 14 rural and urban police stations have been linked to the service. "The ADG (technical) R K Vishwakarma recently held a meeting of top police officers and instructed them to remove bottlenecks and implement CCTNS in all police stations," said Pal.
Explaining how the system works, Pal said once a complaint has been registered online, the complainant will get all information related to his case on his mobile. The status of the case and the trajectory of its progress will also be available online.
