In what appears to be a contradiction to reports that the ticket prices for PK will not be hiked, a single screen chain in Mumbai has apparently refused to screen the Aamir Khan-starrer on grounds that the distributors of the film are asking for the rates to be doubled. According to a report in Mid-day, the film that is releasing in over 4000 screens across India, will not be screened in the G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir, which belongs to the same chain. Manoj Desai, owner of G7 chain of multiplex, is quoted in the report as saying that he was informed by Vinay Choksi that the distributors wanted to increase the price by two times. But Manoj turned down the demand and has decided to replace the film with Rajinikanth's Lingaa. Apparently Vinay Choksi, who handles the booking for Manoj, had informed him that the distributors wanted the upper stall rates to be raised from Rs 80 to Rs 150 and the balcony prices from Rs 100 to Rs 250-Rs 300.
Aamir had arranged for a special screening of the film for Sachin Tendulkar. Here's an account of the event.
