BHOPAL: In a new twist to the
MPPEB scam, a lawyer, Umesh Bohre, has alleged in MP high court that members of the Special Task Force and
Special Investigation Team have demanded bribes from the accused.
The Gwalior Bench of HC -Justice U C Maheshwari and D B Rathi -gave three days to the lawyer to produce an affidavit with the charges.
Some 40km from Gwalior, Kailash Singh -father of Narendra Singh Tomar, who died in Indore prison on Sunday -made a similar charge while performing the last rites of his son at Porsa village in Morena.
"Police demanded money from me on January 5 when I was picked up for clues on my son. Narendra later surrendered on February 14, "he claimed.Tomar's father also alleged that a city superintendent of police, Indore, had demanded money from his son to remove his name from the list of accused. "My son was murdered. When my younger son visited Narendra in Indore jail last Thursday , he did not complain of any discomfort. How can he suddenly die," he asked.
Bohre is the advocate of accused Budh Singh Hindolia. The government advocate sought time from court to respond, inviting the judges' displeasure for his "unpreparedness". The additional advocate-general Vishal Mishra told TOI, "We will also file a counter-affidavit."
