It was déjà vu of sorts for
Raghav Juyal when he learnt that a man impersonated him on social media and tried to extract money from his followers. This is the second time that someone has tried to con the public using his identity. A few months ago, somebody had booked shows in the capital claiming that the dancer-actor-host will be performing as part of it. While it was rapper Raftaar who came to Raghav’s rescue then, it’s a bunch of girls who nabbed the impostor this time around.
Raghav’s manager says, “A man, who is believed to be from Chandigarh, had created a fake profile on social media in Raghav’s name and started chatting with his fans.
He then posed as Raghav’s friend and told a couple of girls to join an e-forum by depositing money so that they can meet the dancer in person. He then went to Guwahati to meet the girls pretending to be me! He connected with them using a Mumbai number and two outstation numbers. Luckily, one of the girls got suspicious and managed to get my mail ID to check about Raghav’s involvement in this. That’s when we realised what was happening. The girls then invited the impostor to a hotel and overpowered him. He admitted that he has been doing this for the last three years and the girls even recorded his confession on video. Though they filed a complaint with the police officials, they let him out after a stern warning.”
Raghav, who will be seen in the next season of 'Dance +', says, “I was shaken when the girls sent me the video. If I wanted to interact with the public, I would do it myself.”
