Learning sign language is not easy: Karthik Jayaram

Actor Karthik Jayaram, who is playing the role of a speech impaired guy in the suspense thriller The Veer, tells us that he has been through rigorous workshops to learn sign language to play this role. “Learning sign language is definitely not an easy feat. We are so used to how our mind and tongue synchronize. But as someone who is speech impaired, one needs to establish a connection between the mind and the hands, minus lip movement. It takes a lot of reprogramming of the mind. We are currently shooting, and on the set, we have an expert who is well versed in sign language who helps fine tune the nuances of body language so that we can stay authentic to the character.”
