MUMBAI:
A special court on Monday adjourned suspended police officer Sachin Vaze''s
discharge application to August 18. Vaze has been accused for the custodial
death of Khwaja Younus, an accused of the Ghatkopar bomb blast that occurred on
December 2,
2002.
Designated Pota judge A P Bhangale said the court will not be able to decide on Vaze''s application because the concerning state authorities have still not filed a chargesheet. "Unless the chargesheet is filed and the opening address of the case is heard there is no question of the discharge application," Bhangale said.
On June 28, Vaze was granted permanent bail by the same court on the grounds that there was no prima facie evidence against Vaze. However, Vaze, who is seeking for discharge maintains that he has been falsely implicated in the case by KL Borhade, deputy superintendent of police (CID) Nasik.
Vaze was picked up on March 3, 2004 as a murder suspect and for fabricating evidence and falsely stating that Khwaja Younus had escaped from police custody.
