Tesla Cybertruck explodes near Trump Hotel in Vegas, Musk reacts
A tragic incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck took place outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas yesterday, leaving one person dead and seven injured. The explosion, which occurred at approximately 8:40 AM, has prompted an FBI investigation to determine whether it was an act of terrorism.
Eyewitness videos captured the moment flames erupted from the parked 2024 Cybertruck outside the hotel’s entrance. Surveillance footage revealed the vehicle cruising along Las Vegas Boulevard before it came to a stop in front of the Trump Hotel and exploded moments later. Authorities confirmed that the electric pickup truck had been rented in Colorado and had arrived in Las Vegas just an hour before the incident, reported Reuters.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed the incident on X, that the blast was unrelated to the Cybertruck itself. "We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion," Musk wrote.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene within minutes and quickly extinguished the fire. Two individuals with minor injuries were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the Trump Hotel was evacuated as a precaution. Most guests were subsequently relocated to alternative accommodations.
Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, shared an update on X regarding the situation. “Earlier today, a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas,” he wrote, referring to the building’s covered entrance.
The FBI has reportedly identified the driver of the vehicle but has withheld their identity from the public. Early indications suggest the possibility of external involvement in what appears to have been a planned attack.
