Martin Sander, General Manager at Ford Europe recently teased the car by literally taking the wraps off, not completely but quite enough to reveal its light blue paint scheme, sporty front bumper with a faux skid plate as well as a tad bit of its chunky headlamps and L-shaped LED DRLs. "Can't wait for 2023 to arrive, when we will pull the cover of our first electric passenger vehicle coming from Cologne", said Sander.

A silhouette of the EV was also released by Ford Europe's social media handle on the same day, saying that the upcoming car would be "more Ford than ever". The new EV will serve as a replacement for the Fiesta in Ford Europe's portfolio, and will be built in Cologne, Germany. That said, the new electric SUV has been a long time in the making.

As mentioned earlier, the Ford e-SUV will be based on Volkswagen's modular Electric drive matrix (MEB) platform, which is specifically designed for electric vehicles. We also expect the upcoming Ford EV to share its specifications with the Volkswagen ID.4. That said, the VW EV comes equipped with two electric motors on the top-end GTX version, putting out a combined 299 PS of maximum power with all-wheel drive configuration. It gets a 77 kWh battery pack that provides a 496 km range on a single full charge.
