KTM is currently in the process of organising its RC Cup in India for the very first time. With the amateur motorcycle racing championship, KTM aims to bring its racing heritage to India and enter the growing racing scenario in the country. The selection round of the racing series is already underway, with selection in 3 cities out of the total 8 having already concluded.
Minimum Criteria and How to Register
The bare-minimum to take part in the inaugural KTM RC Cup is owning a KTM or a Husqvarna motorcycle, be it the entry-level RC 125, or even the 390 ADV. One can register on the official KTM India website, and the company says that even beginners can participate. Moreover, KTM will be providing the RC 390 GP Edition motorcycle to all participants in stock condition.
To participate in the RC Cup, each individual must pay a registration fees of Rs 2,000. As a part of the fees, KTM will also be providing riding gear to participants, including boots, jacket and pants. However, riders must carry their own helmets and gloves. That said, training will also be provided by the company at no extra cost.
Selection ProcessThe 10 fastest riders in each of the 8 cities (total 80) will contest in the Qualifier round in Chennai. Out of the 80 in the Qualifiers, 20 top racers will race at the Finale of the KTM RC Cup which will be race directed by former MotoGP racer Jeremy McWilliams.
PrizesThe top 3 winners of the KTM RC Cup will win a visit to the global HQ of KTM in Austria, along with a chance to train with the Race Director Jeremy McWilliams in Austria, and an interaction with KTM Factory Racing athletes. The 3 will also get to attend the 2023 Austria MotoGP race at the Red Bull Ring in August this year. In addition to that, the winners will also visit the KTM Motohall in Austria.

KTM RC Cup Delhi Selection RoundOver 100 racers participated in the Delhi selection round for the KTM RC Cup. The top 10 fastest lap times selected for the Qualifier round were – Arvind Kumar, Sudheer Sudhakar, Shekhar Tyagi, Prikshit Sharma, Mukul Kapoor, Mantavya Sharma, Himanshu, Tanmay, Shivam and Seshadhri. The Qualifier round takes place in Chennai at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT).
The RC Cup will move to its next leg in Ranchi this weekend for selections, followed by Hyderabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Chennai and Kolkata. Apart from Delhi, the racers from Mumbai and Vadodara have already been selected.
