How to do Aadhaar card verification
Aadhaar is a crucial document and though it is not mandatory yet, everyone should have Aadhaar number given its increasing importance for financial transaction and government schemes.
But do you know that having Aadhaar card is not enough? As per Aadhaar officials and UIDAI helpline, if you do not use your Aadhaar for three continuous years then it may become inactive.
In case you have an Aadhaar number and in last three consecutive years you have not used it for any transactions such as linking bank accounts, PAN card etc. then it may get deactivated.
So, in case you want to verify whether your Aadhaar number is valid or not deactivated, follow these steps:
1) Visit the UIDAI resident portal - https://resident.uidai.gov.in
2) Enter your Aadhaar number and security code provided
3) Click on 'Verify' to know the status of your Aadhaar card
In case your Aadhaar number is deactivated, you can reactivate it by submitting an Aadhaar update form and your bio-metrics at the nearest Aadhaar centre. You need to pay a fee of Rs 25 at the enrolment centre for the update.
