NEW DELHI: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Friday launched a sporty premium variant of its mid-size car 'Accent Tornado' in Delhi market.

new delhi: hyundai motor india ltd (hmil) on friday launched a sporty premium variant of its mid-size car 'accent tornado' in delhi market. the new car accent tornado has been priced at rs 7.28 lakh (ex-showroom delhi), about rs 68,000 and rs 1.1 lakh more than the existing 'glx' and 'gls' models, hmil managing director y.s. kim said at the launch here.
the accent tornado comes fitted with a new 1599cc dohc, four cylinder 16 valve engine, he said. "we are targeting to sell about 1,500-1,800 units of the new car this fiscal. overall, we should be able to meet this year's sales target of 1.03 lakh cars despite the current downtrend," hmil director (sales and marketing) b.v.r. subbu said. hyundai had sold 86,719 cars during 2000-01. the company had sold 31,000 units of the existing two variants (gls and glx) of 'accent' till date, he said, adding the 'accent gls' and 'accent glx' were launched in 1999 and 2000, respectively. "we expect the market to go up during the remaining six months of this fiscal," subbu said. subbu, however, said that hyundai india had no plans to effect any price hike due to devaluation of the rupee. the 'accent tornado' would have features like anti-lock braking system, 6-cd changer, new rear spolier, metalgrain fascia and front map lamps apart from the standard features of the existing 'accent' cars.
