Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended marginally higher on Wednesday after a volatile trading session, as profit-booking wiped out most of the sharp intra-day gains.The 30-share Sensex rose 50.15 points, or 0.06 per cent, to close at 82,276.07. During the day, the index had jumped 731.99 points, or 0.89 per cent, to hit 82,957.91. Meanwhile, the Nifty advanced 57.85 points, or 0.23 per cent, to settle at 25,482.50. Market participants remained cautious amid mixed global cues, with analysts noting that the Nifty’s range-bound movement has kept investors largely on the sidelines.
