NEW DELHI: With the next date of hearing on adjusted gross revenues (AGR) dues in the Supreme Court set for Tuesday,
Vodafone Idea
is expected to deposit over Rs 3,300 crore to the telecom department (DoT) as it plans to pay the self-assessed principal amount.
It has so far given Rs 3,500 crore, while the principal worked out by the company stands at around Rs 6,800 crore.
Sources said that the company is looking to deposit the money to display its “intent to follow the top court’s order” despite being stretched for cash. “The money may be deposited on Monday, a day before the hearing in the court,” a source said.
Company officials, however, declined to comment on the matter.
However, despite the fresh payment, Vodafone Idea’s payments will be way off from the Rs 53,038 crore asked from it in the SC’s AGR order.
