AGARTALA: Former Indian Cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday became the tourism brand ambassador for the BJP-ruled Tripura state government and will also promote sporting talents of the state, the government said.
Tripura tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury along with tourism secretary U K Chakma and director T K Das met Ganguly at his residence in Behala with the proposal.
"It's a matter of great pride that former captain of Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly has accepted our proposal to be the brand ambassador of Tripura tourism and I had a telephonic conversation with him today. I am confident that his participation will definitely give an impetus to Tripura," Tripura CM Manik Saha told TOI over telephone.
Ganguly will visit London early next month and soon after his return, he will visit Tripura.
