AGRA: Senior leaders of the
BJP are now planning to make the
Shikohabad
clash a poll issue in the remaining six phases accusing the local administration of being hand in glove with the real culprits.
This development comes after the party accused the local administration of being prejudiced in filing an FIR against its workers and allegedly dodging action against the ruling party cadres.
Talking to TOI, BJP Firozabad unit president B L Verma said, “Police and administration are acting on the behest of the
Samajwadi Party. They have even filed a case of looting police station against Jaiveer Singh, BJP candidate from Sirsaganj, and his sons along with other party workers.”
“BJP delegation led by senior leader Kalraj Mishra even met Daljit Singh Chawdhary, ADJ (law and order), in Lucknow. Yet, no action has been taken at the ground level. Hence, the party’s top leadership has decided to raise the issue during campaign rallies to build pressure on the administration to take action against the real culprits. The goons of SP did not even spare Suman Chaturvedi, BJP’s senior woman leader, on Saturday evening,” he added.
On February 11 evening, a group of nearly 40 armed men attacked BJP workers right outside Shikohabad police station. According to the BJP men, SP cadres allegedly attacked them thrice.
