Cleric booked for raping 14-year-old girl in Firozabad

Agra: A case has been registered against a cleric in Firozabad district for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl on the mosque premises, police said on Tuesday.The girl, who studies Urdu at a madrassa operating inside the mosque, had gone to fetch water from an RO plant on the premises on June 7 when the cleric allegedly grabbed her, covered her mouth and dragged her into his room.Police said the accused raped the girl and assaulted her when she resisted. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to her family before fleeing the spot. Hearing the child's cries, locals gathered at the mosque, forcing the accused to flee. The girl's mother then informed police.Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered against the cleric under Sections 65 (rape), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the BNS, along with relevant provisions of the Pocso Act.SP (City) Ravi Shanker Prasad said, "A forensic team inspected the scene and collected evidence. Police teams have been conducting raids at multiple locations to arrest the cleric."
