AHMEDABAD: A 20-year-old woman has told police that she was kidnapped by her friend from the busy stretch between Mansi Circle and Judges Bungalow Road. Vastrapur police have registered a case under the IPCs Sections 365 (kidnapping) and 506-2 (criminal intimidation).
The complaint was registered on Friday against Anand Desai. The complainant said that on Thursday she was going to her office in Anandnagar when Desai kidnapped her.
S G Khambhala, the inspector of Vastrapur police, said that the accused and the victim live in the same society and belong to the same caste. He said a dispute between their families has spurred allegations and counter-allegations. He said that Desai’s relatives have also filed a complaint, with the Satellite police station.
Suresh, Desai’s brother, told Satellite police on Friday that he was out for work when he learnt that some person had come to his residence and claimed that Desai had kidnapped a woman from his family. Suresh said that when he reached home, the relatives of the woman attacked him with sticks. He said he fled and was later admitted to Civil Hospital.
Based on Suresh’s complaint, Satellite police have registered a case under several sections of the IPC including 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294B (uttering obscene words), and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) against four relatives of the woman.
