Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court on Friday ordered Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to open the seal of a gaming zone facility — Lets Jump Trampoline & Adventure Pvt Ltd — so that it can begin the procedure to get a licence and permits in accordance with the law and the newly introduced rules.
Justice Sangeeta Vishen ordered the gaming zone not to operate unless the licence required under the new rules is obtained.
The operators have been told to file an undertaking in this regard, and the HC posted the next hearing for Aug 29.
After the Rajkot TRP Game Zone fire on May 25, a division bench of the HC had prohibited all such activities across the state until further orders.
The petitioner’s advocate, Amit Thakkar, submitted before the HC that the division bench refused to modify its ban order. However, at the same time, if the authorities are convinced that the gaming facility is equipped with all safety measures and has adequate permits, it may be permitted to operate.
SMC’s advocate, Kaushal Pandya, submitted that the gaming zone cannot be allowed to operate without the statutory licence. The SMC agreed to open the seal for the limited purpose of carrying out the procedure to obtain the licence.
