Gujarat: No clarity yet on admission to paramedical courses
Ahmedabad: After the declaration of the Class 12 Science results, students are now waiting for the NEET results for admission to medical and dental courses. However, uncertainty continues over admissions to nearly nine B-group paramedical courses that do not require NEET.Despite the formation of a new Allied and Healthcare Board this year, no clarity has been provided on the admission process. This has raised concerns that students may have to wait another two to three months for admissions to begin.Admissions to medical, dental, ayurveda and homeopathy courses are conducted through NEET. Apart from nursing, several paramedical courses, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology and optometry, were earlier handled by the medical board. These courses are now expected to come under the new board, which was expected to streamline and speed up the admission process. However, sources said paramedical admissions are likely to begin only after medical and dental admissions begin. As a result, students seeking admission only to paramedical courses may face delays of three to four months. With more than 30,000 seats in paramedical courses, the absence of official announcements on admission procedures, seat availability and approval for new colleges has added to the confusion. Admissions are now expected to begin only after the NEET-based process starts.
