Ahmedabad: Amid the ongoing row over reshuffling of faculty members at National Institute of Design (NID), a junior faculty member reportedly submitted their resignation to the institute's director, Ashok Mondal, on Wednesday. Neither the faculty member nor the administration could be approached for a comment.
The first round of transfers was started by Mondal last week. "In the second round, two of the three roles were reinstated. But the constant shifts from one discipline to the other, coupled with the anticipation of the next wave of transfers, may have prompted the faculty member to resign. There is a lot of dissatisfaction at NID regarding the transfers. The director has not shown any inclination to consider students' requests to avoid mid-term shuffles," said a senior official. Mondal has been part of more than four discussions with different stakeholders in the past 10 days, but there has been little progress in the matter. "It is exhausting after a point. Perhaps that is the strategy employed by the administration. Students have no other option but to prepare for exams and events, and the administration knows that. We hope the Centre will pay heed to our issues."
