NID row: Senior faculty members seek meeting with activity chairperson

Ahmedabad: Amid the ongoing row at the National Institute of Design (NID), a group of senior faculty members is seeking a meeting with the activity chairperson (education) to discuss roles and responsibilities. This development comes in light of the recent reshuffle of the faculties and the new roles assigned.The newly appointed director, Ashok Mondal, made it clear that there would not be much change, even as the initial protest after he took over the directorial roles started 11 days ago. The last reshuffle took place three days ago, and it has again raised questions about the reason and logic behind the shuffle. One of the faculty members resigned on Wednesday, but it has not been accepted, according to sources.Student representatives stated that their primary concern is to ensure the start of the educational sessions and restore normalcy. "It would not be possible until there is an environment of trust and understanding. Despite several representations, the important questions are not answered or addressed," said sources.
