ALLAHABAD: Residents of Khuldabad are living under unhygienic conditions. The area presents a picture of neglect as piles of garbage dot various lanes of the locality. Khuldabad locality comprises meandering lanes and bylanes which are filled with garbage. It is one of the oldest localities of the city situated near the historic Khusrau Bagh. A commuter passing through this locality has to cover his nose to escape the nauseating odour.
Though the sanitary workers should routinely clean these lanes and bylanes to provide respite to the people but their attendance is pathetic. They do not adhere to their schedule and pick up garbage at whims. At times, the local people have to shell out money and make arrangements for hiring private sanitary staff to clean the area. The rainfall is the past two days have also aggravated the situation. Piles of garbage stocked at different places have got messy and the garbage dumped there had flown back into the drains.
There is also threat of diseases due to piling of garbage and overflowing of drains. Though the residents have complained several times, the Allahabad Municipal Corporation had not taken steps to streamline the civic condition of the area.
Another problem that is being faced by the residents is the periodic overflowing of drains. The problem exists on the road adjacent to the wall of Khusrau Bagh, which is filed with dirty water. Residents of the area face problem in commuting in the area as they have to wade through it. There is also bad odour emanating from the drain water which is unbearable for the residents.
