Lit Fest revives, preserves culture and heritage of Prayagraj
Prayagraj: Several renowned authors participated and interacted in a daylong Allahabad literature festival organised by an NGO Sanchaari in Civil Lines on Saturday.Participants paid tribute to former professor of English department of Allahabad University Prof Manas Mukul Das and renowned English teacher Meher D Dhondy. Thereafter, renowned novelist Prof Neelum Saran Gour was felicitated. HC lawyer and organiser Tahira Kazmi said girls gave exquisite Kathak performance after which a book discussion took place on the latest work of Ira Mukhoty, "The Lion and the Lily." "Firestorm in Paradise"- a book by Rana Safvi- was also discussed in a session.The event titled "Nazmein and Ghazlein" turned out to be a great success.Renowned psychologists – Komilla Thapa, Ishanya Raj, Alisha Phillps and psychiatric – Shreya Bhutani shared their views on mental health. "Memories in a Morsel", was yet another highly appreciated session where distinguished people of city came together to discuss food and its cultural value of Prayagraj.The highlight of the event was "Vasant ke Agradoot"-- a spectacular performance by Allahabad University students from the Hindi Department paying tribute to renowned Hindi poet Suryakant Tripathi Nirala.Many significant people like Prof Dhananjay Chopra, Prof Smita Agarwal, Tarana H Khan, Larry French, Samina Naqvi, Navroz Dhondy also attended the event. There was also an art therapy workshop for children.Tahira Kazmi said this annual literature festival is an effort to revive, relive and preserve the culture and heritage of Allahabad city.
