Prayagraj: Prominent city temples here witnessed heavy rush of devotees on Sunday, on the second day second day of Chaitra Navratri. Thousands of devotees, including women and children offered prayers at prominent temples including Maa KalyaniDevi, Maa Lalita Devi and Maa Alopi Devi. As temples and idols ofgoddess were decorated with colourful streamers and flowers, devotees continued to chant ‘bhajan’ and ‘kirtan’ on temple premises.
Majority of devotees arrived at temples with red ‘chunaris’, bangles, coconuts and prasad to offer prayers. Civil Lines resident Gimita, a devotee said, “I, along with myfamily visit temples daily to offer prayers. As Sunday being a holiday,we had to wait in long queue to offer prayers in the morning hours.”
Interestingly, as its exam time for UP Board and CBSE students , many students were also observing fast for their better results in the examination. Similarly, professionals are also fasting, hoping the blessings of the goddess Durga would help them gain better positions in their respective fields.
Ankit, a CBSE student said, “Despite my board practicals taking place, I am observing nine days fast with the hope that I would be able to do better in my exams by the blessings of the Goddess.”
He also said I have observed fast during this Navratri for better results and better future.
