Tension mounted Atala and adjoining areas under Khuldabad police station on Monday following the killing of a trader identified as Mohd Zakir (25), a resident of Mominpur who was shot dead by a group of miscreants on Sunday night during a scuffle.

ALLAHABAD: Tension mounted Atala and adjoining areas under Khuldabad police station on Monday following the killing of a trader identified as Mohd Zakir (25), a resident of Mominpur who was shot dead by a group of miscreants on Sunday night during a scuffle.
On Monday, the family members and supporters of the deceased created ruckus demanding immediate arrest of the killers.

They also shouted slogans and appealed police authorities to initiate stern action against the assailants.
In fact, additional police pickets and para-military personnel have been deployed in Atala and adjoining areas to diffuse tension. Companies of RAF and PAC have also been deployed after witnessing tension in the area.
A senior cop said that supporters of two rival groups had a clash on Sunday night and on eof the trader died. The supporters of the deceased had created ruckus in the area and even involved in stone pelting. They had not allowed police to take body on Sunday night and clashed with police personnel.
Police said that supporters of the deceased had too threw stones on the houses of suspected assailants and made an abortive attempt to set the house afire on Sunday night. But timely intervention of police averted the scene going out of hands.
The police however, claimed to have nabbed two persons in connection with the incident and teams have been dispatched to catch other accused.
