Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) will set up a special cell to recover pending property taxes from 493 govt establishments, which collectively owe around Rs 30 crore.
Municipal commissioner Amod Yedge announced the decision during a review meeting held on Monday evening. "The dedicated cell will help accelerate the recovery process through strict and continuous follow-ups with the defaulters,” he said.
While the civic administration has not yet disclosed the full list of defaulting establishments, civic officials said it might be made public if dues remained unpaid.
During the meeting, Yedge reviewed tax assessments, recovery progress under the campaign and other outstanding dues. He issued a warning to officials in Zone 9 and Zone 4 over lower collections compared to last year. Abhiman Bharsakhale (Zone 6) and Sanjay Pardeshi (Zone 10) were felicitated for strong tax collection performance and maintaining high reporting standards through the official cellphone application.
At the start of the new financial year, CSMC has also launched a tax recovery drive titled ‘Majha Kar, Majhi Jababdari’ (My Tax, My Responsibility) to boost collections.
