Man killed in clash following argument at illegal bullfight in Jalna; 2 FIRs registered, 3 arrested
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 28-year-old man, who got married just 15 days ago, died after being brutally assaulted during a clash that broke out at an illegally organised bullfight in Jalna city on Sunday evening. Two others were injured in the attack.Police arrested three people and have registered two FIRs – one in the murder case and the other against the organisers for illegally conducting the bullfight.Jalna SP Ajaykumar Bansal said, "The accused were nabbed within hours of the victim's death. We have formed multiple teams and ensured swift action in the case."A minor argument between two groups during the event during the day, which escalated into a violent clash, police said. Both sides attacked each other using swords, knives and iron rods. Later, around 7pm, the victims were allegedly called to a place near Motibagh Eidgah under the pretext of settling the earlier dispute, where they were attacked, police said.Ravi Ashok Lad, the deceased, sustained deep stab injuries to the abdomen and severe head injuries. He was initially admitted to the district hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar due to his critical condition.
He succumbed to injuries around 1am during treatment.Prem Lad and Naresh Avghad, both in their twenties, were also injured in the assault and are undergoing treatment, police said.The incident stemmed from a trivial dispute but escalated due to group rivalry, said additional SP Ayush Nopany.Based on a complaint filed by Prem Lad, Kadim Jalna police registered an FIR under relevant sections, initially for attempt to murder. It was later converted to murder after Ravi's death. The other FIR against the organisers was registered at the Chandanzira police station.Police arrested Santosh Shrichand Lad and Suraj Dadarav Lad, both residents of Indiranagar, and Somnath Ashok Lad of Sanjaynagar on Monday morning from the Kajala village area.PI Janardhan Shewale of Kadim Jalna police station said further investigation is underway to identify if more persons were involved in the assault.
