Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Aroma Singh Thakur, the inspector general-cum-principal chief security commissioner, Railway Protection Force of the South Central Railway, was bestowed with the prestigious President's Medal for her meritorious service. Three more RPF personnel of SCR — Uttam Kumar Bandyopadhyay, the assistant security commissioner, sub-inspector Ravula Srinivas, and head constable Maheswara Reddy Karnati — were also bestowed with the Police Medals for their meritorious service on the occasion of the Republic Day.
Thakur is from the 1993 Civil Services batch and started her career as assistant security commissioner with the Howrah-I division. As the head of SCR, she controlled crime in train operations, passenger and railway property crime, contraband, and human trafficking by leveraging technology and extensive personal monitoring. Thakur, who delivered exemplary work practices during her previous postings, is also the recipient of the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2015, said an official release.
Bandyopadhyay has completed 29 years of service and has shown outstanding performance in assisting higher-ups to dispose of several issues, such as the absorption of medically de-categorised RPF staff, compassionate ground appointments, staff welfare issues, and the timely disposal of administrative-related court matters.
Srinivas joined the force as a constable in 1999 and is known for his dedication, proactiveness, and fortitude. He served in various capacities, consistently fulfilling his duties with professionalism and competence.
Karnati has proven his efficiency in crime detection and intelligence collection, among other domains.
Congratulating the awardees, SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said their devotion and dedicated service to the Railways and the nation would serve as an inspiration to others.
