Man, 21, arrested for repeatedly raping teen in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A schoolgoing girl was allegedly raped multiple times by a 21-year-old Tempo Traveller driver, leaving her pregnant. The incident came to light three days ago after the girl complained of bleeding to her mother.
According to the complaint filed Saturday by the mother with Hulimavu police, her daughter, who is two months away from turning 16, studies at a private school on Bannerghatta Road.
The arrested accused, identified as Akash, befriended the girl by following and meeting her near her school from Jan. He used to take the girl to the vehicle and spend time with her.
In the first week of March, after school hours, the girl was on her way home when Akash took her to his vehicle, parked near a hotel, on the pretext of a chat. He then allegedly raped the girl.
A few days later, he again took her to his vehicle and raped her. The girl’s mother learnt about the assaults when the teenager complained of bleeding. The girl’s mother took her for a medical examination and found she was pregnant. It was only then that the girl revealed the sexual abuse.
The panicked mother took the girl to a govt hospital for termination of pregnancy. The doctors immediately sent a medico-legal case (MLC) report to Hulimavu police.
Police rushed to the hospital and took statements from the mother and the girl. A case was registered against Akash under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, and he was arrested Sunday. The girl is still hospitalised. “Once she is discharged, we will complete formalities of medical examination,” a senior police officer said.
