GOWRIBIDANUR (CHIKKABALLAPUR)
: Romance between a 60-year-old man and a 30-year-old married woman ended in the murder of her husband. The lovers allegedly murdered him, and dumped his body in a pit in a farmhouse, and covered it with plantain leaves. The incident, which took place at Bisalahalli village in Manchenahalli police limits of Gowribidanur taluk four days ago, came to light only on Thursday morning.
According to police, Narasimhamurthy, 30, and his wife Padmavathy, both agricultural labourers, were taking care of some farms in and around Bisalahalli village. Narasimhamurthy, a soft-spoken and friendly man, had befriended Mallikarjuna, 60, a watchman at a farmhouse. Mallikarjuna, from Bijapur, met Padmavathy a few months ago and they fell in love.
Mallikarjuna, a habitual drunkard and ganja addict, introduced Narasimhamurthy to these habits and the duo often clashed over his alleged relationship with Padmavathy.
On the evening of July 7, Narasimhamurthy fought with Mallikarjuna over the same issue, during which Padmavathy and her lover killed him. They later dumped his body in a small pit.
Manchenahalli police arrested the accused on Thursday morning.
