BHOPAL: Hours before chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan inaugurated the Atal Jyoti Scheme in Datia district-which is aimed at ensuring 24 hours power supply-a lineman who was working on electric pole to ensure uninterrupted supply-died after falling from it, on Thursday.
The incident took near Pitambhara Pith on Petha Sagar Road of the district headquarters.

Dharmendra Kaushik said, "We have visited the spot and our junior engineer was accompanying the victim after he met with accident. We will conduct a departmental inquiry into the incident."
Sources said Rakesh Ahirwar, 35, who was posted as the lineman in the company was working on the electricity pole, when power supply was resumed suddenly and he fell down, sustaining severe injuries.
He breathed his last while he was being taken to the district hospital, sources said.
Going by official data of the company at least one technical employee of central region power discom was electrocuted every month.
As per the annual report of the Central Region Power Distribution Company 2012-13, a total of 11 technical had died, while 30 employees had sustained injuries during while doing maintenance works. Out of these, six employees who died were from Bhopal region of the company and rest six were from Gwalior region. Among those, who sustained injuries last year, 15 each were from Bhopal and Gwalior region of the company.
