BHOPAL: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old man at her home during a function around three months ago.
Recently, when she complained of pain in her abdomen, her parents took her to a hospital where she was diagnosed as pregnant.
Acting on her complaint, police registered a rape case against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and
POCSO Act and started investigations.
Police said that the survivor, 17, is a student of class 11. The accused is the brother-in-law of her father's friend. She often visited his house with her family, where she came into contact with the accused. He took her mobile number and started calling her. Soon, he befriended her.
Police said that the girl alleged that in Feb, the accused approached her home when her family members were asleep. Taking advantage, the accused raped her and instructed and threatened her to keep her mouth shut.
Terrified, the girl did not reveal the incident to anybody. When she complained of pain in the abdomen, the family took her to a hospital where she was diagnosed as pregnant. Acting on the information, police registered a case after counselling the girl. Further investigations are ongoing in the case.
