10 trains passing through Odisha cancelled over rail roko in West Bengal

Major trains originating from Howrah and passing through Odisha have been cancelled due to rail roko agitation in West Bengal protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

BHUBANESWAR: Major trains originating from Howrah and passing through Odisha have been cancelled due to rail roko agitation in West Bengal protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Agitation was seen at different railway stations including Sankrail, Maurigram, Bankra Nayabaj and Nalpur Stations in Howrah-Kharagpur railway section of the South Eastern Railway on Saturday.

Keeping this protest in mind, the Railways cancelled 10 Odisha passing trains, partially cancelled two trains and controlled four trains at different places, said East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources.
Passengers faced problems due to cancellations of several trains connecting south and western part of the country. People, who have planned their trips to south and western parts of the country, faced problems.
“I along with my friend had booked tickets in Howrah-Pune Duronto Express, but I found the train is cancelled today. We had planned the trip a month ago. Now I cannot get a confirmed ticket in any train. We do not know what to do now,” said Debashis Patra from Khandagiri here.
The trains cancelled on Saturday were Howrah-Tirupati Humsafar Express, Howrah-Ernakulam Antyoday Express, Howrah-Chennai Coromandal Express, Howrah-Yesvantpur Duronto Express, Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express, Howrah-Pune Duronto Express, Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Gitanjali Express and Puri-Digha Express.
The other two Puri originating trains- Puri-Santragachhi Passenger
(58002) and Puri-Khurda Passenger (58404) - will be cancelled on Sunday due to cancellation of connecting trains.

Puri-Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express ran between Puri and Kharagpur and remained cancelled between Kharagpur and Howrah from both the directions on Saturday. Similarly, Bhubaneswar-Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express ran between Bhubaneswar and Mechheda on Saturday and was cancelled between Mechheda and Howrah from both the directions.
Four trains- Chennai-Howrah Coromandal Express, Yesvantpur-Howrah Duronto Express, Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express and Puri-Howrah Dhauli Express were controlled at different stations on Saturday.
More trains may be cancelled for the agitation, said ECoR sources.
