Over Rs 3,000 crore sanctioned for green energy projects in Odisha: IREDA chairman

Bhubaneswar: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has sanctioned over Rs 3,000 crore for green energy projects, covering solar, hydro, ethanol and renewable energy manufacturing sectors, across Odisha, IREDA's chairman and managing director Pradip Kumar Das said here on Monday. Das made the statement while addressing the Odisha Solar Investor Conclave organised by GRIDCO."Accessible financing is crucial for accelerating renewable energy projects across India," Das said while highlighting IREDA's distinctive position in the market as a competitive financier, noting their transition to a fully digitised and paperless operation system that prioritises borrower convenience and streamlines support for green energy initiatives.Speaking about regional developments, Das expressed IREDA's strong commitment to supporting Odisha's ambitious renewable energy goals. "The state has set its sights on achieving an impressive 10 gigawatt (GW) capacity by 2030. There is a lot of potential in Odisha which is untapped and once that is done, the state could emerge as not only a leading solar power producer but also establish itself as a prominent hub for solar equipment manufacturing," he added.IREDA's national impact was substantial, with Das revealing impressive financial figures. The organisation sanctioned over Rs 2.08 lakh crore and successfully disbursed Rs 1.36 lakh crore towards various renewable energy projects. This significant financial commitment positioned IREDA as a crucial catalyst in developing markets for emerging renewable energy technologies, including ethanol production, electric vehicle fleet financing, pumped storage hydropower projects, and green ammonia initiatives.
