Ferozepur: The Punjab and Haryana high court has granted bail to senior
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Vardev Singh alias Noni Mann after nearly five months in custody.
Earlier, his bail plea was rejected by a Fazilka court in Dec 2025, following which he approached the HC seeking relief.
Noni Mann, a prominent political figure in Punjab and son of former Ferozepur MP late Zora Singh Mann, was arrested in Nov 2025 in connection with a firing incident that took place during Oct 2024 panchayat elections in Fazilka, when a clash between rival groups escalated into violence, with allegations of stone-pelting and even firing.
During the unrest, AAP leader Mandeep Singh Brar, contesting for the post of sarpanch from Muhammad Wala village, sustained a bullet injury to his chest.
Police registered a case of attempt to murder, causing hurt, unlawful assembly and rioting against Noni, his brother Nardev Singh alias Bobby Mann, who contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Ferozepur, Harpinder Singh Mann, and 15-20 unidentified persons under Sections 109, 115 (2), 351 (2), 193 (3) and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act following a complaint by Gurpreet Singh, another candidate for the post of sarpanch from Chak Suhelewala village.
