Woman injured in drunken brawl, case filed

Amritsar: A dispute over stopping a man from allegedly creating nuisance while intoxicated escalated into a violent clash in Dhapai locality late on Friday night, leaving a women injured. According to police reports , a man living in the area used to frequently consume alcohol and create disturbance. On Friday night, when residents objected to his behaviour and tried to stop him, a heated argument broke out.The situation soon escalated after the accused allegedly called his relatives to the spot, following which members from both sides gathered and a violent confrontation ensued. During the clash, sharp weapons were reportedly used, and two women who were passing through the lane at the time were caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries.ACP Surinder Singh informed that the police have registered a case based on the statement of Kaur.
