The hashtag #JusticeFor-JeyarajAndFenix was one of the highest trending ones since Thursday evening.

“Police brutality is a terrible crime. It’s a tragedy when our protectors turn into oppressors. I offer my condolences to the family of the victims and appeal to the government to ensure #JusticeFor-JeyarajAndFenix,” tweeted former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan joined many others to condemn the police torture and fight for justice. “Horrified to hear about the brutality inflicted upon Jeyaraj & Fenix in Tamil Nadu. We must raise our voice and make sure justice is given to the family,” he tweeted.

Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh termed it a tragic incident, one that brought shame to the nation. “It sends shivers down my spine even reading about it,” said Deshmukh. He called upon people to stand united in the fight against the barbaric act.

Actor Jayam Ravi called for exemplary punishment to the culprits to prove that no one was above law.
