Coimbatore: NGO Siruthuli planted 125 palmyra saplings in half acres and 2,000 saplings of native trees in a one acre plot at ‘Shanthi Panai Vanam’ at Lakshmipuram Pachapalayam in Perur Chettipalayam panchayat, on Thursday.
The initiative aims to create awareness about the benefits of palmyra palm.
Panaiyagam, a resource centre and conference hall in the plantation, will highlight the merits of palmyra and its products. Farmers can use the facility to conduct workshops, for knowledge exchange and to promote their products.
Chairman of Kumaraguru Institutions B K Krishnaraj Vanavarayar inaugurated Panaiyagam. Managing trustee of Siruthuli Vanitha Mohan was present. tnn
