Cuttack: A 42-year-old associate professor of National Law University Odisha (NLUO) was found dead in a rented house at CDA area, here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Ananya Chakraborty, a native of Kolkata. She was teaching at the university for more than a decade.
Police said she was staying alone in the rented house in Sector IX of CDA.
On Sunday, NLUO officials called her several times for some office work, but she did not respond. After getting no response, officials went to her house in the evening and found the door locked from inside. After repeated calls and knocking on the door, officials informed Markat Nagar police.
“A police team broke down the door and entered the house and found her dead. We videographed the entire procedure. No suicide note was found,” said Anil Mishra, additional deputy commissioner of police.
“Her family members reached Cuttack on Monday. According to preliminary findings, we found she had cardiac issues. But the cause of death is yet to be ascertained,” said Mishra.
“An unnatural death case was registered in Markat Nagar police station. Post-mortem examination was conducted in SCB Medical College and Hospital on Monday and her body was handed over to her family. We are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of death. Further investigation is on,” Mishra added.
