UTTARKASHi: Due to continuous snowfall and adverse weather conditions in the district, the Gangotri National Highway has been closed beyond Sukki Top. Traffic has come to a complete standstill as snow has accumulated on the road due to heavy snowfall.
According to the administration, continuous snowfall is occurring in high-altitude regions—including the Harsil Valley—resulting in the accumulation of several feet of snow in the vicinity of Sukki Top. Consequently, vehicular movement on the route has been halted, and connectivity to several villages has also been disrupted.
Teams from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have been deployed on-site to reopen the route. Snow-clearing operations are being carried out rapidly using heavy machinery.
