DEHRADUN: At least three people in Dehradun fell victim to cyber fraudsters, losing approximately Rs 5 lakh in three separate cases. The fraudsters lured their victims with promises of substantial profits through online trading platforms.
According to the police, the incidents occurred within the jurisdictions of Patelnagar, Dalanwala and Kotwali police stations.
The police have registered fraud cases and launched investigations to apprehend the unidentified culprits in all three cases.
SSP Dehradun, Ajai Singh, said, “We are actively pursuing leads in all these cases to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible. We urge people not to share their bank details with any unknown person over the phone or any social media platform.”
In one instance, a resident of Dalanwala was duped of Rs 1.96 lakh a few weeks ago after the unidentified accused fraudulently got his confidential bank details over a call. Similarly, in Patelnagar, another individual suffered a loss of Rs 1.42 lakh due to a similar online scam about a month ago.
In the third case, a Kotwali area resident lost Rs 73,000 after an unidentified person contacted him via WhatsApp a few weeks ago. The accused enticed him with the promise of lucrative returns on investments made through a fraudulent online trading website.
