Only 20 vehicles a day for jungle safaris in RTR
Haridwar: In compliance with the high court directions, only 20 vehicles will be allowed for jungle
Chila range boasts of a rich wildlife comprising tigers, leopards, bears, spot deer, wild boar etc. Private vehicles were banned for jungle safari by the department last year and from this year, the number of authorised jeeps has also decreased following court directions. In August, the high court had restricted the number of Gypsys hired by tourists for safari in Corbett and Rajaji tiger reserves.
Warden (Chila) Ajay Sharma said, “Only 20 jeeps will be permitted to enter the forest area for jungle safari this year. Earlier 40 jeeps were permitted daily. A maximum of seven tourists can go in a jeep.”
Chila ranger Anil Paniyuli added, “Penalty will be imposed on those found littering during the jungle safari.”
