After AAP MLA arrested, Kejriwal says Modi declares Emergency
NEW DELHI: Delhi's AAP Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "declaring emergency in Delhi" after an AAP lawmaker - Dinesh Mohaniya - was arrested on charges of molestation. The MLA had allegedly misbehaved with women on Friday when several of his constituents went to his office to complain about a severe water crisis.
Delhi police picked up Mohaniya, the lawmaker, while he was addressing a press conference here on Saturday. Mohaniya has been charged with molestation and outraging the modesty of women, both non-bailable offences. His bail application was rejected late Saturday and he was sent to Tihar Jail till Monday by a Delhi court.
Another AAP leader Ashish Talwar also took a shot at PM Modi on Twitter.
Kejriwal and Modi have been at loggerheads for a while now.
On Friday, after the Centre returned 14 bills passed by the Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal lashed out at Modi asking if the Centre is Delhi's "headmaster".
Should the centre have the power to stop every law related to Delhi? Shouldn't the elected Delhi Assembly have the right to make laws? Is the Centre Delhi's headmaster?" Kejriwal tweeted.
Earlier on Friday, buoyed by the vote for Brexit, Kejriwal renewed calls for statehood for Delhi.
"After UK referendum, Delhi will soon have a referendum on full statehood," he tweeted.
Statehood for the capital city was one of Chief Minister Kejriwal's promises while he was campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections. The CM has long held that the Centre unduly interferes in Delhi's functioning.

Islam is like HIV. HIV is the virus - it lies dormant for some time. Not everyone with HIV show symptoms of the disease AIDS. That's 'moderate Muslims'. They believe in Islam, the Quran and Muhammad and the Islamic Hell. But they reinterpret Islam in a way to be peaceful and live lives like normal human beings. But there is always the potential that they will get the full-blown disease, get radicalised - a western term which is actually following Islam to the letter. Hate the Infidel - kill them, behead them, cut off their finger-tips etc.Islam has no defence against reason and logic. It's only defence is threats and violence. That is why, just like HIV, Ebola or any other deadly virus, it has to be eradicated off the face of this Earth.Read allPost comment
