New Delhi: A 22-year-old DU student has been arrested for allegedly peddling drugs and supplying contraband to students of his college in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar. Police have seized hydroponic ganja worth around Rs 20 lakh from his possession.Police had received a tip-off about the illicit sale of the drug in a park near north Delhi’s Vijay Nagar. A raid was conducted, and the eighth-semester BA student, identified as Jaseem Siyadul Farsan, was nabbed. A resident of Vijay Nagar, the accused hails from Kozhikode in Kerala, police said.Based on information provided by him, cops seized the drug from his possession, which was revealed to have an international market value of over Rs 20 lakh. “During sustained interrogation, it was revealed that he was indulging in drug peddling activities and used to supply contraband substances to various clients on demand,” said DCP (northwest) Akanksha Yadav.Police further said that the accused disclosed during questioning that he had been supplying the contraband primarily to students and other customers in the area to earn quick money. Investigators are now trying to ascertain the source of the narcotics and identify other individuals who may be linked to the supply network.A case has been registered under the sections of NDPS Act at Model Town police station.
