Police post in Dhaula Kuan to be taken down to widen road
New Delhi: In a move to facilitate road widening and ease traffic congestion in Dhaula Kuan, the police post located at the Dhaula Kuan intersection is set to be demolished. In a letter to DCP (Land & Building Cell), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) stated that congestion on the slip road near Dhaula Kuan metro station has worsened due to the presence of metro pillars and the parking of vehicles impounded by Delhi Police. To address this issue, NHAI has proposed using the land currently occupied by the Dhaula Kuan police post. According to the letter, it was discussed and agreed upon that the slip road could be widened by utilising a portion of the police station premises. While this would involve relocating part of the front building of the post, NHAI stated it would facilitate the reconstruction of the affected structure within the same premises. Sources said Delhi Police has accepted the proposal.
