Rani Bagh firing: Accused arrives wearing burqa, surrenders before Delhi court

NEW DELHI: Suhail, the suspect in the alleged Rani Bagh shooting incident, turned himself in at Delhi's Patiala House Court on Wednesday.

Sources revealed that the suspect, who had been evading authorities since October, presented himself at the court disguised in a burqa.

According to sources, Suhail filed a surrender application at the court on Tuesday and presented himself before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) at Patiala House Court at approximately 12pm on Wednesday.

The Delhi police's Special Cell has taken the suspect into custody for a seven-day period and is currently conducting interrogations.

On October 26 this year, Suhail and two accomplices allegedly fired several rounds at a Delhi-based businessman's residence in Saraswati Vihar.

Law enforcement officials found a note left by the perpetrators stating "Kaushal Chaudhary-Pawan Shokeen-Bambhia Gang."

Following a short gunfight with authorities, two suspects were apprehended on October 30.

The detained individuals were identified as Bilal Ansari and Shuheb, both residents of Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh. They were captured on Old Kakrola Road in Delhi's Najafgarh area.

Authorities seized several items from their possession, including a semi-automatic pistol, a single-shot firearm, six live cartridges, and a motorcycle. Further investigation revealed that the seized motorcycle had been stolen from Delhi's Mohan Garden locality in September 2024.

"Both accused were involved in the firing incident at a businessman's residence in Rani Bagh on October 26. The accused are associated with the Kaushal Chaudhary, Bhupi Rana, and Pawan Shokeen gang," the police said.
