Threat mail to schools after blast rattles cops
New Delhi: Even as anti-terror sleuths grapple for leads in the Sunday blast case outside the CRPF School in Rohini, a wave of panic swept through them after the paramilitary force's schools in Delhi and Hyderabad received a threat email in late Monday night. The cops rushed to carry out checks and sanitising exercises in the CRPF schools in Rohini and Dwarka. The ominous email, titled ‘Nitrate-Based Improvised Explosive Devices in Listed Classrooms', claimed that explosive devices were planted in specific classrooms. The email demanded evacuation before 11am, sparking alarm among students, teachers and administrators. The authorities later labelled the threat as a suspected hoax, believing it to be an attempt to spread fear. The incident comes close on the heels of the mysterious blast outside the CRPF School in Rohini. Besides the angle of the incident being connected to the row over the former Research and Analysis Wing officer, police are also exploring if the act was carried out by "pro-Maoist elements", seeking to avenge the recent operations against them in their bastions. "We are also probing if some elements disgruntled with the policies of the current govt indulged in this act," said a senior police officer. The Rohini blast took place around 7am on Sunday. Police suspect a cocktail of hydrogen peroxide and chlorate may have been used in the bomb along with a timer machine. However, they are awaiting the report of National Security Guard.Regarding the action taken in the aftermath of hoax emails, senior cops said they conducted checks at two CRPF schools in Rohini and Dwarka. A police source said that around 12pm, they conducted search operations at the CRPF School in Dwarka with the bomb disposal squad and the canine squad, along with other teams. No suspicious objects were found. Similarly, another inspection was held at the CRPF School in Prashant Vihar."Enhanced security measures have been implemented, searches conducted, and students, staff and parents alerted. The Delhi and Hyderabad police, along with CRPF, are probing the source and intent behind the threatening email to determine necessary actions," a senior police officer said.
