Panaji: Conceptualized in honour of Dinanath Mangeshkar, legendary singer and the late father of India’s nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar, the fifth edition of the Swarmangesh classical music and dance festival will be held on November 1 at Kala Academy.
Organized by Swastik cultural association, the day-long festival will feature stalwarts in classical music and dance from all over the country, with Goan artistes collaborating with them as accompanists.
Speaking about the festival, President of Swastik cultural association, Pravin Gaonkar said that the cultural event is not just an opportunity to host great performances, but also a platform to play instruments of the bygone era.
“This is probably the only existing event in Goa that will stage a recital backed by the music of the sarangi, a traditional musical instrument, ” he said.
