FIROZABAD: The police registered an

BJP workers

and leaders including district president for conducting a

of a political leader in

violation of the model code of conduct

on Sunday evening.

Sub-divisional magistrate Sangam Lal Yadav said the party had not taken any permission to conduct the event. The official had also got the videography of the entire done. Besides BJP district president B L Verma, vice president Jayjeev Parashar and the owner of the banquet hall, Udayveer Yadav, along with one more person had been named in the FIR. Rest were mentioned as unidentified BJP workers. The

added that further investigation in the matter was going on.

According to information, a party conference organized by the local wing was being attended by 16 senior party leaders including state co-incharge Ramesh Bidhuri and state general secretary Ashok Kataria among others. During the event, Rupali Dixit, daughter of a local leader Ashok Dixit, who is convicted in a murder case, was welcomed in the party.

Her inclusion was vehemently opposed by former district president Laxmi Narayan Yadav and at one point of time chaos prevailed in the conference when two opposing groups resorted to sloganeering.

Incidentally, Ashok Dixit was convicted in the murder case of Laxmi Narayan Yadav’s brother Suman Yadav, a school teacher, in 2007.
