Building Assam's future: Amit Shah to inaugurate major projects in Assam; Aiming to enhance security and cultural prominence
Guwahati: A week after PM Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Assam beginning Saturday, union home minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in the state on December 29 for a packed day-long programme.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Shah’s visit will mark the inauguration of several key projects that underline Assam’s growing prominence on the national stage.
The union home minister will first unveil the newly constructed Guwahati Police Commissioner’s office at Khanapara in the city, a significant addition to the city’s law-and-order infrastructure.
Shah will also launch the CCTV network under the Intelligent City Surveillance System (ICSS), a project designed to strengthen urban security and make Guwahati safer through technology-driven monitoring.
Shah’s itinerary includes the inauguration of the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex, a massive auditorium with a seating capacity of 5,000 people, which Sarma described it as the largest in eastern India, a landmark venue expected to host major cultural and social events in the years ahead.
Later in the day, Shah will travel to Batadrawa in Nagaon district, the birthplace of Vaishnavit saint Srimanta Sankardeva where he will inaugurate a state government project aimed at developing the site into a hub of art, culture, and spiritualism, blending heritage preservation with tourism and community development.
